The morning of a hot day here, a vulture on fence post unfolds its wings....
(shouldn't this be accompanied by the theme song from the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey?)

California towhee, drab coloring makes him almost invisible in eucalyptus grove near old orchard.

Female western bluebird with a large bug, headed for nest in apple tree in back orchard near the house.

Male bluebird at the nest hole. These parent birds are very cautious, and wouldn't approach the nest until I backed away some more.

Walking up to the farm on the property, I saw this swallow's nest, and assumed a barn swallow. However this is a CLIFF SWALLOW.

No coyote this morning, but did see two good-sized bucks cross the road in front of me on the way back to the house.
