Fox sparrow in the park. These birds have since migrated out of the area until the fall.

Varied thrush were still in the park too. This is a shy male.

What an exciting treat to see this amazing bird close up!

Also at the deck feeder, I think this is a song sparrow, the first year I have noticed one.

Male lesser goldfinch, camp meeker

A large flock of lesser goldfinches showed up in Camp Meeker in January of this year, refugees from the fires? A lot of open grasslands had gotten burned in the Santa Rosa fires of last fall, and in January there had not yet been much rain for the grasses to recover. This is only a guess as to why these more unusual birds for this area visited this winter. They were very active at the feeders, as they are mainly seed eaters.

The Acorn woodpeckers don't like to miss out on anything.

At this point in time also, a few townsend warblers were daily visitors to the feeders, but as of April I have not seen them, they could be busy nesting.
