Usually it's caspian terns at Bodega Bay, but on this particular day, there was a small flock of Forster's terns.

Female Nuttall's woodpecker, Shiloh Ranch Park, Windsor

Shiloh Ranch Regional Park in Windsor, almost 90 percent of this park burned in last year's fires.

A hermit thrush along the trail, Shiloh Ranch Park, Windsor

A lot of downed, blackened tree limbs from the fires.

Hooded mergansers in the pond!! This is the male.

Through the branch brambles around the pond, a beautiful male varied thrush.

There was a flock of at least 10 hooded mergansers in the pond!

Kept seeing the large male varied thrush, but never a really clear view.

The fire was mostly a ground fire, as the burned tree log shows, with the moss on top still alive.

Immature Bald Eagle at Bodega Bay. (This is from this last February)

This large bird sat on this branch for a little while, so I was able to get different shots of it checking the area out.

Down the road along Bodega Bay from the bald eagle was a white-tailed kite.
