Red-shouldered hawks still hunting intensely in back orchard There's a new flock of baby very young quail chicks navigating the back orchard right now, especially vulnerable to the hawks ![]() They make the orchard crossing quickly until they can dart into the safety of a neighbor's garden In the backyard, two Anna's hummers interact, not sure what their relationship is - they could be a mated pair or an adult and a juvenile. ![]() Steller's Jay in the back yard - gleefully showing me how he can still get bites of suet from the upside down feeder I have noticed the grosbeaks with a juvenile, this could be it making its way cautiously to sunflower feeder. Every few days, the twin male turkeys drop by, probably for water, and a little snack. Still pretty synchronized.
