Snowy Plover, Doran Beach
Small group of snowy plovers resting, Doran Beach - they had each scooped out little depressions in the sand, where they then nestled.  Almost the same color as the sand, they are difficult to see until you almost step on them.  Then they scurry out of the way and look up at you, as if to say, hey, can't you see where you're going?????

With the milder coastal climate, the blackberry bushes still have some blooms, always fiercely guarded by the resident Anna's hummer.

I believe the darker color at the end of the orange beak on the far right bird is supposed to indicate a juvenile.

Snowy plovers and black oystercatchers - you can almost feel the texture of their feathers!

Love that shot of hummer on berry bushes.
Snowy plover looks so demure, no wonder they are endangered.
Also like the black toenail pedicure on the oyster catchers, quite toney!
